This is STEP 6a in the application process.
Per Washington State law, "deposits" must be refundable, and any amount collected that is not refundable, cannot be called a deposit. "Fees" are non-refundable, although there is no law that disallows all or part of a fee from being refunded.

The only acceptable forms of payment are: (1) personal check drawn on US account, (2) parent's personal or business check* drawn on US account or Canadian account in US funds, (3) "cashier" or "bank" check, (4) postal or store money order, (5) PayPal payment.
*parent's last name must be the same as applicant's last name
Payment Due w/ Application
Application fee - One person................. $80.00
$50 applied to security deposit or refunded, $30 non-refundable "Screening Fee"*
Application fee - Two people................. $160.00
$100 applied to security deposit or refunded, $60 non-refundable "Screening Fee"*
Payments Due w/ Signing of Agreement
Security deposit - One person............ $450.00*
refundable.
*one person: $50 of $500 security deposit is paid with the application fee.
Security deposit - Two people............ $400.00*
refundable.
*two people: $100 of $500 security deposit is paid with the application fee.
Carpet cleaning fee................ $75.00
non-refundable.
Pet deposit(s) may be due prior to lease signing under certain "special deals"
Pet deposit - 1st pet................. $500.00
Pet deposit - 2nd pet................. $100 additional
refundable, only if applicable.
Payments Due @ Move-in
Secreted pet fee............ $10.00 one-time
Secreted pet deposit............ $500.00 added to regular pet deposit
per 1st secreted pet, in addition to pet deposit for declared pet(s), deposit is refundable, fee is not, only if pet shows up on move-in w/ no pet agreement. Move-in will be postponed to allow for re-write and printing of revised home share agreement.
Payments Due @ Start of Service - only if required
Equipment deposit................ $350.00
per device, refundable, usually not required.
Payments Due by 12:00 Noon on 1st Day of Month
Reimbursement................ monthly amount set in home share agreement
Equipment upgrade................ $25.00/mo (if applicable)
per device, monthly non-refundable fee for separate cable modem
Dog waste removal fee........... $40.00/mo (if applicable)
required, but only applicable if housemate has one or more dogs. Monthly non-refundable fee for contracted dog waste removal.
