Avoiding PayPal Fees
Paying the deposits and fees by personal check, cashier's check, or USPS/local store money order, instead of making a payment online from the "Pay Deposits & Fees" page, will avoid PayPal fees altogether.

Reduced PayPal Fees
If you are not a PayPal member, your payment options through PayPal are limited. Non-members must use a credit or debit card for their payment of SpringWater deposits and fees (refer to the "Using Credit or Debit Cards w/ PayPal" paragraph below). PayPal members have the option of using their PayPal account balance or verified & linked bank account to make payments free of credit/debit charges. You will need to set-up an account at least a week in advance since there are account verification procedures that take time to implement. There is no set-up charge or monthly fee to use PayPal - just the transaction fees for making payments to SpringWater as outlined below. Check out PayPal by clicking on the PayPal logo at left.

PayPal Transaction Fee
PayPal charges the homeowner 2.9% of the total for each transaction. The 2.9% is a transaction fee charged by the homeowner to you as "sales tax", although it is not actually a tax (there is no State sales tax on this type of transaction). In this case, "sales tax" is just a label that you can ignore, it is not handled by PayPal as an actual tax. The "Add to Shopping Cart" feature doesn't provide a way to ask for this fee any other way.

PayPal Flat Fee
PayPal also charges 30 cents on each transaction as a flat transaction fee. The 30 cents is charged to you as shipping, although again there is no actual "shipping" - it is just a label you can ignore.

Using Credit or Debit Cards w/ PayPal
In addition to the sales tax and shipping fees, PayPal also charges you a 2.9% transaction fee for using a credit card or debit card in making the payment. If you are offered a choice as to whether to pay it or have the "seller" pay it - select to pay it yourself, as it will delay processing your application otherwise. PayPal members can avoid this charge by making payment(s) using the balance in their PayPal account or transferring from their verified bank account.

Over Payment
If you find that the total you are charged is different (more) than what is shown below... IMMEDIATELY contact the homeowner via the form on the contact page. Be sure to list what the deposit or fee and total was, then the amount you were charged. YOU WILL BE REFUNDED OR CREDITED ANY AMOUNT OVER THOSE SHOWN BELOW. If paying for more than one item in a single transaction, the "tax" and "shipping" should calculate correctly - as if you made each transaction separately.

PayPal Fee Table
This table details the transaction fees charged to the payer (you) by PayPal. The totals in the third column from the right are charged if a PayPal account balance or linked bank account is used for the payment. The totals in the far right column are only charged if a credit or debit card is used through PayPal for the payment.

If more than one line item is paid via PayPal, add together the amounts in the appropriate totals column, for each line item.
